Hick Stick champs

SCS baseball Hick Stick champs

The Hick Stick Tourney is an annual baseball tradition, and so is winning: Schoharie won against Middleburgh for the 11th time in 12 years, with a score of 9-3.

Invitational track meet honored Steve Hoard

The force was with runners as they participated in the Steve Hoard Memorial Track Meet on May 2 at Schoharie Central School. Hoard was a beloved high school teacher, track and wrestling coach and avid Star Wars fan who passed away in 2014.

Placemats replace gym mats as wrestlers are honored

Placemats and elegance replaced gym mats and cheers when two Schoharie High School athletes were honored for their outstanding performance this year. Section II 2016 wrestling champions and New York State tournament qualifiers Dylan Callahan and Dillon Warner were honored at the 45th Annual Wrestling Banquet on March 13 at the Lighthouse at Water’s Edge restaurant in Glenville.

Callahan, who is 10th grade, and Warner, an 11th grader, represented their school proudly at the state tournament Feb. 26-27 at the Times Union Center in Albany.

Success on the mat: wrestlers qualify for states

Schoharie wrestlers Dylan Callahan and Dillon Warner will compete in the state wrestling tournament Feb. 26-27 at the Times Union Center in Albany after qualifying at the state sectionals in Glens Falls Feb. 13. Austin Lints and Ryan Martin scored third in the sectionals, and Schoharie's wrestling team placed sixth of 36 Division 2 schools.

Great grappling

SCS's wrestlers defeated Scotia-Glenville on Jan. 22, 40-33. On Jan. 23, they placed 3rd at the Kosmann Tournament, beating Canajoharie/Ft. Plain and Fonda-Fultonville. Dillon Warner was named the heavyweight Most Outstanding Wrestler and Alexis Bleau received the Sportsmanship Award.

SCS athletes score on the mat, court and alley

The wrestling team defeated Berne-Knox-Westerlo on Jan. 7. Six wrestlers scored individual wins in the match. The team then placed 13th at the Oneonta Tournament the weekend of Jan. 9. Great job, grapplers!

The boys bowling team beat DCS 4-0 on Jan. 11, with a total of 2,731 pins to DCS's 2,148. All team members bowled well.

On Jan. 8, the girls JV basketball team won 48-8 against DCS. Awesome! In other basketball news, the annual Sco-Burgh games will be played Jan. 29 at SUNY Cobleskill. Varsity girls tip-off is at 5:30 p.m. and the varsity boys matchup is at 7 p.m.

Basketball team nets another victory

Congrats to the girls JV Basketball team on winning against Northville Dec. 1 by a score of 55-28.

Girls JV Basketball team scores silver in tourney

The girls JV Basketball team placed 2nd in the the Middleburgh Tournament Thanksgiving weekend. They beat Margaretville 45-15
and then lost a heart breaker to Middleburgh 21-22 in the Championship Game.

Great season team!

After winning the 2015 NYSPHSAA Class C Soccer Championship Regionals on Nov. 7, the Schoharie girls Varsity Soccer team (pictured after their sectional win) took on the Notre Elmira Dame Crusaders in Cortland Nov. 14. After an exciting match on a cold and blustery day in Cortland, Notre Dame won 2-0. Great work team, and thank you to all who supported the players during their excellent season.

Soccer at sectional win

The Schoharie girls Varsity Soccer team (pictured after their sectional win) won the 2015 NYSPHSAA Class C Soccer Championship Regionals on Nov. 7 against Potsdam 1-0. Next up: semifinals on Nov. 14 vs. the Notre Dame Crusaders of Elmira. Awesome!

Soccer success

The SCS girls Varsity Soccer team defeated Cambridge 2-1 on Oct. 31 to win the Sectional semi-finals. They play Greenville in Stillwater on Nov. 4 for the championship. Go team!

Cross country runners excel

Congrats to the girls Modified Cross Country team for placing 1st in the Oct. 27 WAC Championship and to the boys team for placing 2nd. Congrats to Noah Valvo for placing 3rd individually and for achieving status as a WAC All-Star. 

Great work soccer teams

Great work girls Varsity Soccer team for winning their sectional playoff game Oct. 27 against Mayfield 4-0, and best of luck in this weekend's game. The SCS Modified Soccer team won their final game of the season on Oct. 20, winning over Duanesburg 5-1. What a great end to an awesome season.

 Congrats to SCS's awesome girls Varsity Tennis Team, sectional champions! The team finished their season at 7-6.

Sports update

The girls JV Soccer team won 4-1 over Cairo-Durham on Oct. 19, finishing their season with a 7-5 record.  The girls JV and Modified Volleyball teams both won their matches against OESJ.

Congrats to the girls Varsity Soccer team for their win over Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville for the WAC Cup!

SCS plays strong

Great job SCS athletes! On Oct. 13, Varsity Cross Country team member Noah Valvo placed 1st at the meet at Mekeel Christian Academy, while Blaine Rose placed 6th, Andrew Hahn 7th and Matt Faas 8th. Samantha Luniewski ran 6th in her race at the meet.

The Girls JV Volleyball team added another victory to their tally, winning against BKW on Oct. 13.

Also on Oct. 13, the Girls JV Soccer team won against Northville 3-0. Goals were scored by Katie Touchette, Holly Yauchler and Mackenzie Barton added a goal and an assist.

The girls Varsity Soccer team defeated Duanesburg 8-0 on Oct. 14; on Oct. 16, they play Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville for the WAC Cup.

The Girls Modified Volleyball team defeated BKW on Oct. 14, bringing their record to 6-2.

Best of luck to the Varsity Tennis team at the upcoming sectionals.

Slogochoharie's teams have been doing great. Here are some accomplishments from the week of Sept. 20:

Coed Varsity Cross Country: Noah Valvo placed 1st with the time of 16.20. Blaine Rose placed 4th, Andrew Hahn 5th and Matt Faas 6th.
The boys are now 2 and 0 in the league.

Varsity Golf: Congratulations to the golf team on their 15-0 win over Waterford Sept. 22 and to  Joe Polley for shooting a 41 to help lead the golf team in their Sept. 23 win over Fort Plain.

Girls JV Volleyball: A round of applause to the JV Volleyball Team for bringing home wins against Canajoharie and BKW.

Girls Modified Volleyball: The team defeated BKW Sept. 22.

Girls JV Soccer: The team won 3-2 in overtime Sept. 23 at Northville. Kayla, Mackenzie and Katie T. all scored goalswhile Sierra Z. added an assist.

Girls Modified Volleyball: As of Sept. 26, the girls team was 3 – 0 after defeating MCS and Mayfield.

Girls Modified Soccer: The girls won lSept. 24 7-0 against MCS. Goals and assists were made by Carissa, Sally, Christina,
Shawna, Daisy and Emma.

Boys Varsity Soccer: The boys won the Kyle Sharp Tournament 2-0 on Sept. 26. Matt scored both goals. Stalker had an assist. Everyone played like a team.

Girls Modified Soccer: The girls tied with Canajoharie 3-3 on Sept. 26. Goals by Shawna and Carissa.

Alexis BleauWrestler Alexis Bleau earns bronze in Cadet World Championships

Congratulations to Schoharie Jr./Sr. High School student and wrestling standout Alexis Bleau! She had a great summer, earning a bronze medal as a member of Team USA at the Cadet World Championships in Bosnia.

Phys Ed attendance policy

State regulations do not allow waivers or exemptions for physical education. Students who miss PE class at Schoharie Central School must contact their teacher to set up an appointment to make up missed work. DOWNLOAD SCS's PHYSICAL EDUCATION ATTENDANCE POLICY for details.
